RICK HIDUK
Saturdays from 3 to 7 pm
Hi, I’m Rick Hiduk, and I’m so excited to be back home and back on the radio. I grew up in Bradford and Wyoming counties and returned in 2011 to work and live in the Endless Mountains. I used to “play” radio in my bedroom studio when I was a kid and solicit my friends to do extra voice parts on the shows that I recorded. I also wrote and published my own newspapers and magazines that I would charge family members a dime to read before taking them back to resell them! OK. Enough of my geekery. I acquired my communications degree from Penn State Wilkes-Barre and moved to the Valley immediately after graduation to begin a radio career that involved many radio stations in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and Williamsport. I loved producing commercials and handling promotions and live remotes. I left the area for about 15 years to work as a news reporter and editor for a publishing company in Lancaster County, and I still write for numerous publications in the Endless Mountains. In addition to writing, I also provide DJ services for public and private events.
One of the best parts is that I am finally using my real name on the radio. In the ’80s, mine and many other names were considered too ethnic, and we were
urged to come up with a “radio name.” I used Dave Richards and Rick Wilding (another family name).
When I’m not DJing or working on commercials for GEM, I work as an account representative to help local businesses get their message across to the
listeners of GEM 99 & 100.
If I can be of service to you, feel free to send me an email at RickHiduk@GEM99and100.com
